HPA is growing and it’s time to expand the team so we can make more content, courses and develop new and exciting areas of the business. This is an opportunity for you to join the team as a....actually the title will really depend on what you are good at. As you will see below there are lots of jobs that need doing at HPA. 

This position is based in Queenstown New Zealand (You can read more about Queenstown here - It's one of the most beautiful towns in the world). The location would suit someone with an interest in the outdoors or an active lifestyle. 

At HPA we work hard but try and do so in a relaxed and fun way - If we just got a 50 cm dump of fresh powder overnight, chances are slim that you'll find us in the workshop the next morning. We also regularly head to the race track to test products and collect data. You would have to fit in with this lifestyle and be flexible in your work.

Motorsport Mechanical Work & Race Preparation

We need a person to maintain our test vehicles, prepare them for events and fit mechanical and electronic products for testing. Performing this role will require some light fabrication and wiring skills. We work to an exceptionally high standard and all our work is on display for the world to see so we require someone who can meet our requirements and match our expectations. Here is a some info on our 350z and Toyota 86

Key skills required:

  • General mechanical work
  • Fitting of products and components for testing
  • Fabrication - Light fabrication work including brackets, mounts, exhausts and intake plumbing
  • Tig welding - Ability to tig weld stainless steel and aluminium to a high standard
  • Wiring  - Understanding of the fundamentals of automotive wiring techniques
  • Technical Skills - A solid technical understanding of engines, fuel injection and turbocharging
  • Problem Solving Skills - Must have the ability to assess a situation and present potential solutions

 

Video Shooting and Editing

We are looking for an assistant to help with the production of our video based courses and technical videos for our various social media channels. You will be working with both video and DSLR cameras for this purpose as well as editing the footage in Final Cut Pro. We also require help with production work on live webinar shows. Key Skills Required:

  • Video camera  and DSLR camera operation
  • Video editing with Final Cut Pro
  • Attention to detail
  • Enjoys spending hours staring at video of Andre (not in a creepy way)
  • Must be comfortable with using Apple computers

 

Still Photography

We need someone who is able to take high quality still photos using a DSLR camera for blog posts, tech articles, course material and our social media channels. This may involve product photography, on site photography or travel to events. See some examples of our photos on our Instagram and our blog.

Key Skills Required:

  • Can take a photo pretty good
  • Can use a digital SLR

 

Writing Blog Posts and Tech Articles

We need someone who can produce regular technical articles and blog posts for our various social media channels as well as our website. This role will require a strong technical understanding as well as the ability to clearly and succinctly express this understanding in a written form. See an example of our tech articles here.

Key Skills Required: 

  • Strong technical understanding of automotive, tuning and electrical technologies
  • A good ability to portray this knowledge clearly and in an easy to understand manner in a written form 

 

Marketing and Social Media Management

Ben needs a marketing assistant to help with the various marketing campaigns we regularly run. This will involve setting up and managing our various promotions via Facebook, Instagram and email, as well as setting up and managing our live streamed webinars. This will also involve writing or collating posts, scheduling these posts, and ensuring any questions are addressed in a timely fashion. Key Skills Required:

  • Basic HTML knowledge
  • Good communication skills to speak with brands, customers and leads
  • Understanding of marketing best practices
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Strong technical understanding of automotive, tuning and electrical technologies
  • A good ability to portray this knowledge clearly and in an easy to understand manner in a written form 

 

Training Course Development & Presentation

We’ve got an almost impossibly long list of course material we need to write, film and produce. To help produce more courses quicker, we’re looking for someone to write and produce courses here at HPA labs. This position will require a strong knowledge of EFI tuning and dyno operation and ideally would be an existing experience dyno tuner. You can see our some of our course work here

Key Skills Required:

  • Expert level understanding of EFI system operation and tuning
  • Experienced in both dyno and road tuning
  • Preferably would be familiar with Link, Motec, Haltech, AEM, Cobb, EcuTek, and HP Tuners software
  • Technical Skills - A solid technical understanding of engines, fuel injection and turbocharging
  • Problem Solving Skills - Must have the ability to assess a situation and present potential solutions

 

Tech Support (Forum)

We’re looking for someone to help answer technical questions on our forum. These questions vary from basic questions regarding engine operation and our courses, through to very specific questions relating to configuration and tuning of certain functions on specific platforms. Ideally you would have thorough experience on a wide range of ECU platforms.

Key Skills Required:

  • Expert level understanding of EFI system operation and tuning
  • Experienced in both dyno and road tuning
  • Preferably would be familiar with Link, Motec, Haltech, AEM, Cobb, EcuTek, and HP Tuners software
  • Technical Skills - A solid technical understanding of engines, fuel injection and turbocharging
  • Problem Solving Skills - Must have the ability to assess a situation and present potential solutions

  

Remote Dyno Tuition / Guidance

HPA operate an industry first remote online practice dyno where customers from all around the world can remotely access and tune an engine via the internet. We will be using this facility to perform training and testing and need someone to help run the dyno and tutor the students being trained. Knowledge of EFI tuning and dyno tuning is required however you will be trained on the lessons and what you will need to do. You can see how the Remote Dyno works here.

  • Experienced in dyno tuning
