after start up it idles up then sharply drops to almost nothing ,sometimes it dies . only on start up. if it doesnt die it picks back up and idles fine

Immediately after the cam' swap? Fuel pressure? Manifold pressure? Electronic or mechanical throttle? Vacuum assisted brakes? Other details?
