Hi all so ive been doing all the hpa courses for a while now and finally took the plunge to buy a dyno you can watch and learn all the courses but until you actually start tuning in practice you aint gonna gain experience, whats the best way to start learning unless you have a software to tune the car which i mostly wont have whats the best open source software for downloading maps and modifying stock files and flashing back on this is best way to start tuning oem cars ?

Hi Andre,

What vehicles do you have access to? I would personally recommend tuning your own vehicle/s before moving onto customers if you are only learning.

There is plenty of open source stuff like ECU flash and Rom Raider. I've used those for Subaru before.

HP Tuners is another one that caters for lots of different vehicles, however is not free and works on a credit based system.

Look into some sort of knock detection unit as well. I personally use a PLEX knock monitor V2 but isn't the most entry level type of unit.
