I’ve got a 2002 1ZZFE Corolla Hatch to which I’m building up for drag racing and was wondering what Haltech ECU I should purchase? Will also be running a nitrous system. I want haltech and was looking at the Elite 750 and Elite 1000. Not sure which one to get. Any help will be much appreciated

No specific suggestions, other than to consider other brands as well, unless you're specifically focused on that.

What I would suggest is making three lists, from which you should have a good idea exactly what you need/want for your application, these being

what it needs to do;

what you know you don't need it to do;

and what it would be nice to have and/or what you're not sure if you will need but should have in case you do.

Examples to consider are things like a compatible camshaft control; type(s) of rpm limiter - hard/soft or fuel/ignition; individual EGT and/or lambdas (if you expect to use either/both); compatible with the OEM wiring or an easy electrical installation with harnesses that just need termination to length; internal logging; software/hardware compatability with your mapping equipment; GPS inputs - handy for doing acc'n and speed, for example; internal accelerometer, ditto; how much support there is - either from the community/forums or the manufacturer; expandability may be a big one - some ECUs can have quite a lot of modules added to them for increased functionality; etc.

There are going to be many things to consider, so take your time.

Haltech ticks every box I’m looking for. I just need it to go as fast as it can over 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile, that’s it basically with easy tune setups. Don’t plan on using anything other than wiring harness supplied with ecu kit. I’ve done the wiring harness course through HPA so I’m confident I can achieve what I’m looking for. Do I need knock control or can I just have knock sensor as an auxiliary input ?
