Why should I use a 14AWG wire from fuse to ignition power? is not overkill? why not a 16AWG or even 18AWG wire, is there any recomendation on wire size arround different coils specs?

Regards

What coils are you using?

I use VW 1.8T, AEM HOI "dumb" coil and MSD DIS.

Personally, I'll always recommend the heavier gauge (sometimes even heavier) for any "power" circuit as the reduction in potential power to the device drops in proportion to the SQUARE of the voltage loss - ie, 90% of the possible voltage means 81% of the power, 80% voltage means 64% of the power, etc.

When you consider that drop is over the entire circuit*, and increases with wiring length, you can see why it can have a significant affect on the coils' outputs.

*Including battery/alternator to the ignition switch.
