Discussion and questions related to the course Professional Motorsport Data Analysis
Hi like stated in the title I have a Chevy 07 ly6 gen iv 6.0. Just done the vvt delete, and was hoping to get some insite. New to tuning in general , and just bought the hp tuners pro. I'm still getting fimiliar with the layout, but my question is with this software what would be the steps in turning off the vvt. I've done some research, but I get mixed opinions from your adverage tuner. Would you care to run me through the steps before I do it.
Sorry I'm not going to be able to give you a definitive answer as I've never had the opportunity to use HP Tuners on a VVT LS engine. From memory though the variable cam system can be disabled through a single parameter? Have you tried this?
My other questions however is do you need to disable the VVT system? Typically you'd only want to do this if you are running a large cam where piston to valve contact is a likely scenario. Properly tuned, the VVT system does a great job of offering a wider torque curve than you could achieve with fixed cam timing.
I'm not fimiliar with hp tuners at all. I've been told to set two codes to no error code, then set the intake to zero. I'm running 212,218. 522,529 114lsa. Not a big enough cam to do damage with vvt. I changed to a 3 bolt cam gear and deleted the vvt system.
I figured it out. Went into variable cam and set the amount of cams to "none". Then went into dtc and set my to error codes p0010 p0011 if I remember correctly to "3 no error". Simple compared to what I was expecting " setting the parameters to zero and disable the vvt".
