Discussion and questions related to the course Practical Motorsport Wiring - Professional Level
Hello everyone,
I am in the process of my first concentric motorsport-style engine harness build. This is also my first time using large amounts of DR-25. My main harness trunk is 13.5mm in diameter so I went with 1" dr-25 for this section. I followed hpa's advice for using the thickest possible heatshrink for my application and I believe 1" puts me there. It appears that 1" dr-25 should recover all the way down to ~12.6mm. However when i recovered the heatshrink onto my harness with my heat gun set to 650°f, very slowly and evenly, some parts of the heatshrink have most definetly not shrunk to specification. I also made a 2nd pass at 800°f to try to shrink these areas down. I'm worried that I had scorched the heatshrink, possibly damaging it? There is a one foot section that does feel really nice and recovered but no amount of heat applied to the other section gives the same results. What temp do you guys use and do you think I scorched the dr-25?
Thanks for your input.
