Hi all, I have a log here from an evo x running around 50 pounds of boost and on e85. I personally did not tune this car, however I am learning about EFI tuning and have completed most of the courses on HPA so far. That being said, I believe I am seeing knock on this log and I can also see the timing seems to be extremely aggressive on this car (17 degrees at 7500rpm at 50psi of boost.) Unfortunately I do not have access to the original map, only the log. I'd like someone else's input on this, however to me it seems like a clear sign of knocking. I've attached photos and the log itself. Thank you so much!
To me 17 degree of ignition timing is a bit too much at 50 psi of boost and 7500 RPM on e85. I would be going for 14-15 but it also depends on camshafts choice, CR, combustion chamber port and polishing, back pressure... The only correct way to check it would be to reduce ignition timing a couple of degrees and check if it helps. Usually if tuned properly ECU would react to knock by adding more fuel and retarding ignition timing. ...
I think you've got a few other issues to look at alongside your ignition.
Your fuel pressure delta is dropping during your pulls, meaning you do not have enough delivery, and you're reaching 100% on your injectors. You are one clogged injector away from melting stuff
That is something that always makes me frustrated - all ECUs (stock or standalone) allow to get IDC up to 115 percent which doesn't make any sense... I just can't get the logic behind it... As we al know in theory it should not exceed 100 percent but somehow it goes over that value...
Yeah everything you guys are saying is 100% correct and I am aware of the other issues. I was mainly curious about the knock reading though. Appreciate the insight.
