In the engine tuning courses, it's repeatedly mentioned to confirm a correct AFR reading at the ECU on the vehicle you're tuning, which makes perfect sense. I am curious though, to install an AFR gauge and additional sensor to confirm the AFR, do you guys drill a new hole and weld in or clamp a threaded bung for the wideband sensor (which you would have to cap off when the additional wideband sensor is removed); or is there a simpler, less invasive method to confirm the ECU is measuring AFR properly?

For temporary installations, many use a tailpipe O2 sensor mounting clamp, such as the Innovate 3728:

Here is an interesting way to improve it's performance at low flows, by using a separate vacuum pump and extending the pickup location:
