Does anyone know the thickness of the OEM MLS head gasket for the 1JZ? I think it might be 1.2mm but not 100%... whereas the 2JZ GTE one is 1.3mm. But that's strange the 2 would be different thicknesses.
Also, what's the ideal quench when building a 1JZ GTE to have? More than .04" or less than .04"? What's the limit?
Yesterday out of interest I spent some time and went through all my manuals for Toyota and did some research online too. I haven't been able to find any original Toyota's data about thickness of head gaskets for 1jz-gte and 2jz-gte. I also asked local Toyota gurus club if they have anything I need with that regard so I'm waiting for them to come back...
However, I found trustfull USA sources that read 2jz-gte head gaskets thickness to be 0.051 inch which translates to 1.29 mm and maybe this is where frustration is coming from. 1.29 can be interpreted as 1.2 but also as 1.3 since it's very closed to 1.3...
