Hi there, just a quick question about the torque specs for the main cap bolts on an SR20. The worked example you guys have of the sr20 shows the torque specs to be 25, 50 then 75 foot pound for the ARP main studs. Is this the same for standard Nissan main cap bolts? The workshop manual says 24-28 ft-lbs and then turned another 45 degrees. Just not quite sure which to go off (I am using standard main cap bolts), thanks in advance.
You use the OEM spec'n for OEM bolts - ONLY use the ARP torque spec'n for their bolts, as the steel alloy used for each will be quite different.
If you aren't using NEW bolts, go and buy some now* - any bolt torque spec'n that has an angle means they are deliberately tightened to their yield point and should ALWAYS be replaced! This is even if they are just torqued to yield (angle) for a dummy build.
*ARP bolts can be used indefinitely, so can be a significant saving if you expect further strip downs of the engine.
