Hi all,

I am trying to replicate a part and I have come across an issue where the pipe at the flange is 44mm but the open end is 54mm (This has been measured off of a physical part) I have struggled to increase the pipe diameter from one end to the other, I have tried the Loft tool, Pipe tool, Sweep tool and a number of different ways to edit the sketch and I cant wrap my brain around how to make this work.

Any input is appreciated and happy to offer the original 360 file if that will help with the learning, seems like an easy issue to over come but it has been a day of scratching my head.

Just to confirm you want it to go from 44 ID to 54 ID or 52?

Could you attach a photo of the actual part as well?

Loft would be my first thought, but sweep might work as well.

Love the Tutorials btw, they've been such a worthy investment into learning CAD.

As for the above, sorry I did mean 54 internal diameter.

Project brief:

I mocked up some inner guards for the front of the car, unfortunately with the way the turbo is angled on the manifold, it means the inlet for the turbo would now hit the inner guard, this is the original part I used as a reference:

The solution:

All I need to do is offset the angle of the inlet the opposite way from the original part so it would clear the inner guard, below is the first iteration which was a proof of concept and cleared the guard as expected, now I'm wanting to refine the design so I can send the design off.

I have thought about making the whole pipe 54mm in diameter and giving the flange a bit more meat to accommodate that extra width, however as its a first project with CAD I thought it would be better to learn how to solve this problem the correct way, I've attached the file below.

Attach design file & screen recording.

I managed this with the loft tool, hopefully you have some extra space underneath as I made the radius of the pipe bend bigger to prevent that weird curve you were getting on the surface.

You can make adjustments from there to dial it in to what you need.

I see what you mean but there is plenty of space below it, looking at the file I understand how you've done it, I think I was unsure of the radius I should have applied for the fillet but this makes more sense and was the answer to my issues, thanks again!
