I need a second opinion.
Reviewing the log file after the first shake down drive on a volvo 240 running a Haltech R3.
Two issues I can see.
1. The alternator seems lazy. very steady 13.5 volts from idle. its a 100amp bosch unit. I will try replacing the voltage regulator and hopefully see over 14v.
2. Fuel pressure is not rising at a 1:1 rate with boost.
Am I correct in thinking that this is a fuel pump voltage issue? see attached log
The pump is wired directly to the HCO 4 from the Haltech R3, I know that the DTP plug I fitted to the fuel pump hanger has good voltage however the fuel pump is grounded to the hangar inside the tank (red wire in photo). Now, I suspect the actual fuel tank isn't grounded very well to the chassis.
Also, the HCO 4 output is only showing 8.4 amps. Referencing the pump data attached, am I correct in thinking the pump must only be seeing roughly 11v.
Surely it would pull more amps if it was pushing against a blocked filter.
The car has a brand new turbosmart FPR on the same vacuum reference as the MAP sensor so I know its getting the correct pressure. set at atmospheric pressure 43.5psi
I just noticed that the fuel sensor was set as default to synchronous voltage, not analog voltage. why is that an option and could this cause the sensor to read low?
does anyone have any other ideas?
