Hi,
I am planning on ordering this 55 way mil-spec connector: https://www.milspecwiring.com/55-WAY-20AWG-MILSPEC-KIT-3470_p_1594.html I am new to mil-spec wiring I want to make sure that I order the right crimping tool and turret head for this connector/contact type. I believe I need the DMC AF8 with a DMC TH1A turret head. If anybody could verify this, that would be greatly appreciated.

Yes the AF8 with the TH1A will be suitable for the contacts used in that connector.
They are the same contacts used in a Deutsch DTM connector.
The AF8 TH1A combo will allow you to work with Deutsch DT, DTM and DTP.
