Hi,

I've been trying to modify a scanned .obj file to make it 3-4mm thicker. I tried using Form > Face and Mesh > Section Sketch, but nothing seems to work for me. It's been five days now, and I'm feeling pretty stuck. Could you please take a look at the attached file and help me out?

Thanks so much!

Hey, sorry I missed this one and it's taken me a while to respond.

Unfortunately this isn't an easy and straightforward process.

You first need to convert this to a Surface model (Or B-rep/boundary representation) then you can thicken it.

There's a few different ways to do this - I'd recommend first checking out the "surface modeling" module in the scanning course.

You might need the design extension (could do the free 14 day trial) to do the "organic" conversion method - I'd recommend reducing the number of elements in the mesh first to help make this faster

Not something I've played with before, but I assume it is originally a zero thickness membrane, so just double check which way you're thickening it - inside or outside instead of the other way round.[edit] I mean which side of the membrane as in some places it may be 'thickened' to the inside, sometimes the outside, depending on what it's against/is against it.

good point, that is relatively easy to control once the mesh file is converted to a surface model - Which is the tricky bit.

Generalmente respondemos dentro de las 12 horas (a menudo antes)
