Discusión y preguntas relacionadas con el curso Fundamentos de construcción de motores
Hi folks,
I've built my first diesel (have a few gassers under my belt), got it running tonight.
Questions at the bottom but here is my build:
Engine/Fuel:
6.7 was pulled and rebuilt with new pistons, rings, bearings, and mostly new components
Hamilton Cams Towing Camshaft Kit (1998.5-2018 Cummins 178/208 Towing Camshaft Kit (07-cc-24V178))
Fleece Performance Cummins PowerFlo In Tank Lift Pump (2005-2024 Cummins PowerFlo In-Tank Lift Pump)
BD Diesel Screamer Turbo Manifold & Turbo Combo (Screamer Turbo Manifold Package Dodge 6.7L Cummins 2007.5-2012)
Fleece Performance PowerFlo 750 CP3 Pump (Fleece | 2007.5-2018 Cummins PowerFlo 750 CP3 (FPE-CUMM-CP3-10MM-6.7)
Big Bang Injection Stage 0.75 Performance Injectors (BBI | 2007.5-2018 Cummins Stage 0.75 Reman Injectors (MY07-RM-S0.75))
BD Diesel grid heater conversionCat fuel filter conversion
The EGR & DPF has been deleted
Transmission:
I had it built by a reputable shop, their top build
They sent me a BD Diesel flexplate with the transmission
I believe they used a kit that is either exactly this, or similar to the BD Diesel stage 4 (It was the top build they offered) Build-It Kit 68RFE Stage 4 Transmission & Converter Package Dodge/RAM 6.7L Cummins 2007.5-2018
The sump pan is upgraded to a BD which holds 4 extra quarts
Truck uses:
Primary work is hauling a gooseneck trailer and haul an SVL-97 skidsteer. Loaded this is around 7 tons.
Tuning:
I am using the EFI Live system with a 5 selectable tune switch
I installed the Edge monitor system and the EGR sensor kit
I have the new tunes loaded into the ECU
I have flashed the transmission with a help from the transmission builder using HP Tuners
All of my research indicates the Turbo/Cam/Fueling I spec’d should put the truck at around a max of 700HP
Questions:
1) The factory Cummins manual indicates there is no break in for this motor. I don't feel right putting it on my high HP tune right away. I went for a 25 mile drive tonight and didn't turn the dial past 2. Truck was unloaded, I just worked it thru some hills at different throttle positions. Any tips for break in procedures?
2) Any insight on when I could start throwing the hotter tunes at it? Is this a mileage thing, a break in procedure thing?
3) How soon to do the first oil change? On my 4G63 a lot of guys recommended doing it within the first few miles. I don't see as much information online regarding the Cummins. I'll probably put another 20-30 miles on it and do it, but not sure if that is necessary.
Thanks for any insight.
