What would be the advantage and disadvantages on supercharger on an diesel as haven seen it on factory vehicles
I'd suggest posting this in the diesel forums. My 2 cents is it's because diesels generally use a fairly narrow rpm range and a turbo-charger is much more efficient for that, and they can offer a greater pressure ratio (boost) than most superchargers.
