Hi all

I'm looking to fit a MoTeC M150 to my car and need some help with wiring. I will be removing the factory ABS system, however I want to utilise the factory wheel speed sensors for traction control functionality and vehicle speed calculation on the M150.

The wheel speed sensors each have two wires, I'm assuming one would be a Universal Digital Input and one would be a ground, does this sound correct? I've attached a diagram and some documentation on how the sensors work.

Potentially unrelated question, but can anyone help me understand when a Fixed Digital Input (as compared to a Universal Digital Input) would be used?

Many modern ABS sensors today are current loop type, so unlike a traditional variable reluctance types that produce a voltage (looks like a sine wave), these are like a switching hall type sensor that allow two different currents to flow through them (20 & 40 mA typically). So you can wire them as you described, and look at the signals using the M1 Input Capture to see that happens.

On some recent harnesses I've built using OEM motorcycle sensors, I connect 12V to one side of the sensor (they are polarity sensitive), and connect the MoTeC input signal to the other side, and have a 200 ohm resistor connected between the signal and the ground. This will produce the varying voltage square wave that you can set a trigger voltage for.

A similar setup was used with some Ford Sensors/Hubs (don't know the source - it was a kit car), with 220 ohm resistor and I got 1.5 - 3.3v variations.
