I am looking for some advice on what should be prioritized when adjusting ride height using the spring pre-load only. There are practically no good options for quality dampers on my car that have a threaded shock body into the housing that allows for adjustment of ride height independent of spring pre-load. (As it is done in the “Initial Setup and RH Procedures” video.)
The only way to adjust the ride height on coil overs for my car (C7 Corvette) is to adjust the preload via the springs bottom seat. This obviously affects the bump-to-rebound ratio. What happens when my desired ride height falls out of the desired ratio?
Should I prioritize desired ride height or adjust the preload meet the correct bump-to-rebound ratio?
You may need different length springs* - depending on your specific requirements, you may not be able to, or need to, use the more commonly accepted droop to bump travel ratios from ride height.
*Springs are normally available in a range of lengths while having the same spring rate.
