I watched the "How to degree a Cam" serie and have questions.

1. Do we NEED to work on #1 cylinder. I assume all/any cylinders can be used. It is more practical to use the one in the front but others should work too.

Then, if we really have to work on #1 how do we determine which it is?

2.Can't we get the "valve opening versus engine cycle graph" somewhere?

No you don't HAVE to use #1 cylinder. However if you use a different cylinder you have to make very sure that you adjust crankshaft angles etc for the different TDC.

On most engine #1 cylinder is consider the one furthest forward, so furthest away from the flywheel. Given that this is the most obvious place to mount a degree wheel (on the crankshaft damper), it usually makes sense to use cylinder #1.

As long as one use another cylinder's TDC and valves on this same cylinder, I can't understand why there should be any adjustment to do.

I understand also that's degreeing allows to compensate for the manufacturing tolerances. However we don't have a way to compensate for tolerances within the crankshaft!? Don't we have to check degreeing on others/each cylinders to make sure crankshaft journals are degreed like they should be?

Generalmente respondemos dentro de las 12 horas (a menudo antes)
