Has anyone bench tested an Evo X ignition coil (1832A042) to measure maximum current draw? I've always used M22759/32-18-x wire in the past but have a feeling I could probably get away with 20ga. This would mean only two sizes of wires in the harness (excluding screened and twisted cables) so would simplify the design and some of the build considerations.
I also wouldn't feel so bad about running 18ga wires in SZ 20 contacts through a MS3470 22-55S bulkhead connector.
After looking at the factory service manual wiring diagrams I've decided on 20ga wire for power and ground.
It seems all 4 coils are powered with a single 10A fuse, and 0.5 sqmm (20 ga equivalent) before branching out to each coil.
Some of the factory wiring seems to be sized strangely. Each injector has a 0.85 sqmm wire (18ga equivalent) which seems overkill.
