I'm running three signal wires that should be shielded from one of the ECU connectors to to firewall bulkhead. Is it ok to use a 3 wire shielded cable for knock, cam and crank position signals, or would it be better to have their own individual shielded wire? I'm looking for ways to cut down on the bulk size.

I wouldn't do that unless you had experience with those exact signals and how they interact. I would not expect that combining knock (usually a very low-level signal) with crank or cam would be a good idea.

Perhaps you should make a test harness with no shielding from the ECU to bulkhead. If it doesn't work, you can just add the shielded cables outside of the main bundle, and not use the main bundle wires.

I am changing my answer -- if this is a professional level harness, just use smaller gauge wire to reduce the bundle size.

I'm already using a a combination of 20-24AWG wires. I was trying to avoid using 3 separate shielded cables and use a 3 wire shielded cable for the 3 signals, but it sounds like that may not be a good idea.

Then go to 26 / 28 if you need a smaller bundle.
