what do you do if you want to make a very long length of wire?
Depends on your definition of long and at what speed. The physical layer spec by CiA for CAN @ 500k/s is 100m, 1Mbit is 25m. If you're talking reasonable lengths and are using good judgement and not running through noisy areas of the vehicle regular tefzel as a twisted pair has never let me down. If I want to go by somewhere there may be noise I'd opt for shielded twisted pair.
if I wanted to have a pre twisted can high and can low wire 20 ft length could you still twist it with a drill? I do tractor repair in the field and I would like to have a spool pre twisted on my service truck.
