Hi! I’m new to HPA.

I’m developing my own PnP adapter for a BMW E30 325is. My car is using a Motronic 35 pins and there is no PnP for MaxxECU available on the market. My car is a street car and keeping the BMW harness is key for me. Though I will be running new wires for trigger, ignition coils, etc. I want to leverage the BMW Motronic harness as much as possible.

Following the wiring courses it is pretty clear sensors need to be grounded to the ECU sensor ground pin.

With Bosch Motronic harness, TPS and CLT sensors are grounded to engine head star grounding point. The Air Flow Meter which I intend to delete is the only one where ground is wired to the Motronic.

Vendors which have developed PnP adapter for the E30 for various modern ECU do not seem to request to install new wires for sensor ground.

Therefore I’m pretty confuse. Is it acceptable for TPS and CLT to use engine ground instead of sensor ground ?

I’m just trying to determine if running new sensor ground wires is a must or not for these 2 sensors.

Thanks a lot for reading and looking forward to receiving your advice.
