Hello and thanks a lot for this really interesting course. I ask myself if it's possible to crimp directly a terminal on the shielded braid , specially in the first technique because you've got quite a "wire".

Why do we need to put another wire (the green one) and not directly crimp a connector terminal on the braid itself ? Thanks

Depending on the style of terminal it's likely that when you crimp it will pierce the sheathing of the inner conductor/s and you will end up with a short across the shielding braid and the wire.

My understanding is best practice for terminating the shielded braid is to use a solder sleeve around the bared braid to another piece of wire while leaving the inner conductor run longer through the sleeve. This method seems to carry the least risk of failure or short across the shielding and inner conductor/s
