Have you already gained practical experience with compensating for excessive piston-to-cylinder clearance by using a thicker piston coating, e.g. increasing the diameter by 0.1 mm?
For example, using a Cerakote piston coating.
This would be particularly interesting for me in the context of overhauling standard engines, as it would allow the cylinders to be lightly honed and then the excessive clearance could be compensated for by the piston coating.
It would be just a temporary measure that ain't gonna work long term as coating gets worn off. It will work for some time but eventually it will come back to the netural gap size. Durability will highly depend on Rod to Stroke ratio and overall power level.
