If you're meaning the way the rods face in the engine then it depends on the engine. For an engine where two rods share a common journal on the crankshaft, one side will have a chamfer and this faces the outside where the chamfer clears the journal radius. Otherwise there is no requirement to align the conrod in a specific direction unless the rod uses a forced oil squirter to spray oil against the thrust face of the bore.
