Im sure this subject has been sone to death but here we go,,
i have pulled my RB25det down for the third time and it it notoriously hard on bearings!
I have a few questions around this topic.
Firstly when we talk about changing bearing clearance in both mains and rod is it purely a matter of machining to fit oversize bearings or can the they be slightly adjusted another way? Its obvious the clearances are a little bit tight.
This leads me to my next question on ARP hardware in stock components...this motor came to me with arp main studs and rod bolts already but has standard girdle and OEM rb26 rods. Could this be my issue??
Are the ARP torque specs too tight for OEM components? if so is it a matter of relaxing a torque spec to find the perfect clearance (this doesn't feel like the right answer but im stumped)
Can't comment on the first, other than to suggest measuring the mains bore's at different points when nipped up''compared to when the studs are fully torqued, and repeat with the shells for actual installed internal diameter.
For the latter, several manufacturers offer + and - 0.001 nominal size bearings shells, you may find some such - you can use split sets for 0.0005 adjustments, use the 'smaller' shell in the main cap and/or the connecting rods.
