What is we find scores or signgs or material breakup on crankshaft reamed journals? Can we repair them some how?

OK, if the cranck îs new, maybe it is easyer to discard or to return to supplier. But it is already used? We need to ream The surfaces to the next repair dimension or we can obtain the inițial dimension.

Thanks.

OK, seems to be some translation problems, but here goes.

The crankshaft journals - the shiny machined surfaces - should be smooth, but if they are worn or damaged, then specialist machines, that engine machinists use, can grind off (remove) a very thin layer to give a new smooth surface, which uses special undersized bearing shells to give the correct clearance.

This usually done in small steps, depending on the wear/damage, of 0.25mm or 0.010".

I think there are some other Romanian members, hopefully one can better explain in your own language.

Calin,

I'll just add that if you have to machine enough material off to remove the damaged portion, to the point that no off the shelf bearings are available to suit, then replacing the crankshaft usually makes sense.

If it's a really expensive crankshaft, or one that's no longer available for purchase, some shops will repair a crankshaft by welding additional material on, then machining the journal back down.

Generalmente respondemos dentro de las 12 horas (a menudo antes)
