Hi there,
Is a fuse or circuit breaker recommended on the primary power cable run from the battery to a PDM? If so, can anyone recommend a suitable solution?

I don't think that is necessary. A properly setup PDM will limit the total current long before any large fuse could react.

Agreed, the PDM is supposed to replace the fuses normally required - what I would suggest is a master switch (manual or solid state) to kill everything - but you probably already have that installed.
