Hi Andre,

I got some question about control launch when using "ignition cut". What exactly do you mean with poor valvetrain or valvetrain issues? and how can I know if the engines I tune have them?

This question came up because recently I saw a friend's Honda dropping a valve into the cylinder, he was using ignition cut at very high RPM (like 9-10k). I also wonder if for this reason we're not able to use only ignition cut with Hondata. Do you know if this is common on Honda engines?

Thanks in advance.

Most often these issues relate to engines with hydraulic lifters and/or heavy rocker or finger follower valve actuation systems as can be found in the Nissan SR20. Hydraulic lifters will pump up and hold the valves open if the valve is 'popped' back off its seat by pressure pulses in the exhaust manifold.

In my experience honda usually exhibit quite a well thought out valve train that doesn't give trouble very often. It's possible the issue was related to something else so I'd be doing some more digging to ensure you get to the bottom of it. Generally unless I specifically need to for a drag application, I'll always favour a fuel cut rather than ignition cut.

Generalmente respondemos dentro de las 12 horas (a menudo antes)
