I could access the sensors with only removing the radiator. Shielding+twisting the wires seems to do the job. Couldn’t get anymore the « engine position error » moving the car in my driveway. Will do a road test drive this weekend to confirm it worked.
Hi David thanks for your advice. Shielding on the trigger and home could be better. I was also advised to twist the wires.
In order to do that properly,I have to remove the crank pulley to access the cherry red sensor.
Everything is properly wired, ground and +12v.
Also I did not play with the filters yet.
I’m starting to think I don’t want to do the job twice removing everything if this doesn’t work. May be I should cut a tooth on the crank gear. PRP’s instruction states to remove the 6 oclock tooth to balance with the keyway. I red somewhere else to remove another tooth (see attached pic). I don’t have enough experience with this to tell wich one is better to remove !
Any thoughts on that matter ?
Thanks !!
I would suspect alternator noise on either the 12V or ground side output. I would verify any shielding for the trigger / home signals is properly grounded at one end.
Have you tried increasing the trigger signal filter level, and/or the home signal filter level to see if that improves things?
Hi, first a bit of context. I have an R34 gtt, haltech elite 2000 with haltech harness, I swapped in a built RB2530. I have a prp trigger kit. I managed to set up the trigger and get the car running on a base tune.
I drove multiple times to break in the new engine (no trigger issue), the engine has around 150-200km. I recently had an alternator issue, oem alt was not enough on a hot day and I blew up my fan fuse (single spal 16").
I since updated to an LS alternator 140amps with prp kit. That's the only change before it was running "ok".
Now the car starts and idles fine, but when I try to drive the car, I get the engine position error and engine stalls.
I did some screenshots of my trigger set up and oscilloscope when the engine is running. I have 15% home travel, trigger error "home tooth count".
I did not cut any tooth on the prp crank gear.
Can you guys give me some advice on this issue ?
Thanks for your help.
