hello everyone, i want to calculate the estimated power of my engine and i want to know if i am doing every thing right.
my engine is 4477 cc i6 so i calculated the mass air volume to be 34.8 lb/min and the VE is around 123-120 at 5800 rpm based on the table i have. my main questions are:
1- should the MAF be multiplied by a factor of VE? IE 34.8x1.20= 41.8
2- i am using this formula which i use for turbo charged engine with good results in general:
MAF=HPxAFRxBSFC/60 so for my example its going to be 34.86lb/min=309hpx13x0.52/60 ?
many thanks to all
Hi. Production engines usually make about 70-80 Nm per Liter of displacement. Modified engines (higher compression ratio, aggressive cams) can make from 80 to 100 Nm. Heavily modified engines can make from 100 to 130 Nm (NASCAR for instances at very high RPM). That would be general ballpark so you can see where your engine is and estimate your maximum power based on maximum RPM. It's not going to be 100 percent accurate but gives you an idea what to expect in reality.
