I have an e30 with m20 and link g4 extreme
I'm having issues to start the car and backfire but after 3 or 4 attempt, it start normally and idles great and revs normally.
When the car don't start I can see the trigger error counter going up and start counting. When the the car start 0 error sometimes 1 even when doing the full revrange to 8000rpm
My trigger scope looks a bit odd and gives me a sinusoidale shape .
I tried trigger filtering to level 4 and nothing have resolved my issue
I would suggest you post your configuration and the trigger scope on the Link Forum. https://forums.linkecu.com/forum/16-g4/ Those guys are great at decoding that and giving you good advice.
Is this a new problem (engine was starting and running successfully before), or is this a new installation?
It's a kind of new installation yeah, the wiring was done before on an other car with an m20 turbo engine we had and we just added one more igniter to make it direct spark ( not the issue, I tried switching back) and I'm doing the tune from the beginning but it's running okay we are juste waiting for trumpets to take it to the dyno
RESOLVED
I had wired the car with 6 ignition output 3 to each igniters. I had the ignition on direct spark instead of wasted spark without a cam sensor and this caused the problem with the trigger losing sync on startup most of the time.
After switching to wasted spark another problem occurred, only the first 3 coils where firing, I taught I could make it work with the software like on Megasquirt but it turn out if you want to use wasted spark with link you have to wire output 123 and split the wire to the igniters 1,6 2,5 3,4 on Megasquirt I can switch from wasted to direct spark on the fly on link you have to modify the wiring.
(Ms3x only since it have more ignition output)
