I am looking for a collaborator to program the VCU for a custom project. I am building an overland EV (VW Vanagon Westy platform) with an on-board generator and need a custom programmed VCU to control everything. Here are some specifics:

1. Front and rear drive/axles are the same and each will consist of: Cascadia iM225W, Motor directly coupled to a custom 2-speed gearbox with integrated OX-locker, CV/axle shafts to Werewolf portals.

2. 400V nominal system architecture

3. ~30kWh of batteries

4. BMW K75 ICE coupled to iM225W as the generator to supply up to 50kW onto the 400V buss and keep the system charged.

I understand the significant knowledge and effort that is required for a project of this magnitude. It is all of the complexity of both an EV and ICE vehicle. This is a SIGNIFICANT project. I'm hoping to connect with someone who would be interested in working on such a project.

I have developed some firmware for MoTeC M1 ECUs that can communicate with several Cascadia Inverters (PM and CM series). This might be a good starting point (and should be available from MoTeC USA) if your collaborator can use M1 Build to develop the firmware for you. I am fully committed for the forseeable future, but perhaps contacting MoTeC USA to enquire of other M1 Developers might be useful to you.

I am talking with MoTeC USA. They have told me that they do not have any models/templates for EV applications and all EV projects are bespoke and performed in the home office of Australia. I don't have a formal quote, but that approach needs a budget of low 6 figures. On top of this, MoTeC is not ISO26262 compliant. I'm not going to invest 6 figures in a solution that is not ISO compliant as there are multiple options to get a compliant solution at that budget. If I am going to invest that much, I must be able to use the solution for multiple variations of this project and that requires ISO compliance.

Ideally, I can find someone who has the framework you suggest that can be extended to this application on a reasonable budget. ISO compliance is not required for this specific build, so if the cost is reasonable, I am fine with using MoTeC.
