Coolant Temperature Sender

Hello again all,

I've been configuring the inputs on my MaxxECU Mini, my (unreliable) supplier had informed me that the IAT & CLT senders were both GM manufactured. However (referring to the Stand Alone Tuning Module) this gave a temperature difference between the air & coolant of around 10 deg/c, this after the engine was allowed to cool for 24hrs. The ambient temperature is around 20 deg/c, the IAT registers 19.5 deg/c. I've now selected from the dropdown box Bosch NTC for the coolant sensor and it now registers within 1 deg/c of the IAT.

Would any of you suggest this is correct, or should I use a more specific method of determining which sender I have?

There are no visible part numbers on the sender that I can find.

Thanks in advance,

Richard.

Richard,

There are lots of "GM style" knock off parts out there, and some do use Bosch NTC scaling, so you've taken a good guess at it using known ambient temperature.

To be more confident you'd have to test the sensor hot with a known temperature to confirm it will read correctly when the engine is warmed up.

For example a bench test using water boiled on a stove, referencing a cooking thermometer or another automotive sensor of known scaling.

Thanks Mike,

Instead I've purchased a known Bosch sensor, yet to fit it though.

Generalmente respondemos dentro de las 12 horas (a menudo antes)
