Hello guys, anyone have experience or knows someone that use or used CEIKA brakes and Wheels.
It is hard to find aftermarket big brake kits for a Mitsubishi Colt.
I found CEIKA can make custom wheels and brake systems, and even that you have many options to select materials in the brake system, I still like to hear opinions and experiences, cons and pros of this brand.
Before I put any money in that.
I'd usually say with brakes and wheels that you get what you pay for. But I have no personal experience with Ceika.I have seen them advertised and they seem very affordable.
I did however have a really good chat to Sean who owns the "Later K11" micra with a 500-600hp SR20VET and competes in WTAC.
He runs CEIKA brakes. He told me he wasn't sponsored them and they fit and work really good.
Check out the interview we just put up with him: [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQfRTvZ3Mj0]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQfRTvZ3Mj0
Also if you search "later K11" on Instagram I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions.
Hi Connor, yes I agree about that statement, but I will not compete in an upper class category,, If I get to that point the other cars use a variety of AP brakes and other brands, unfortunately for my Colt I can't find big brake kits, I looked and everything is discontinued when I was looking for Mirage or lancer model with the same bolt pattern hub and I can't find anything for the rear brakes, only apparently adapting Mini S type brake disc system.
Just paying for custom made mono block brake system will get over the 7000$ I guess if not way more, will there be such a big difference in track time between the two at a grassroots category I really don't think it will be abismal, certainly any bigger brake kit wheel be better than the stock system that came with the Colt.
If some one knows any other brand that make 300mm brake system that will fit the Mitsubishi Colt/Mirage/Lanser 1997 model with 4x100 front wheel drive pattern, please let me know.
On the wheels there is no problem to find from 200$ a piece too 2500$ a piece but you are stuck with the models, offset and colors they have and that's it.
With CEIKA, they "say" that their rims/wheels are forged, they make the rim too the offset, size and color you want and there is a load of model to choose from, they have one piece, two and three piece forged wheels,
For what I configured they will cost me about 600$ a piece, so that seems reasonable, I can even have two different widths wheels on the car, which I think can give me some room for playing on the track swapping the wheels around to find a balance in grip on certain curves I guess.
All reviews I have seen from CEIKA wheels are for daily driver cars, they look awesome but, haven't find anybody that use them as weekend track car or dedicated race car, no telling as well how heavy they are, but I guess I can find out with CEIKA.
I'd be surprised if there wasn't something about the brakes that's already done. That generation colt is fairly common in Australia and NZ.
Something from the Lancer will maybe fit?
Regardless, I'd have a play around with the brake calculator. Figure out what size brakes you need, then you could design your own bracket and adapt it your car - otherwise if you're set on an off the shelf option the Ceika kit looks good,
Are the rear brakes discs or drums? If they're already discs, for an FF grassroots car i'd be inclined to leave them the factory size with some good pads, hoses and fluid.
Thanks for the reply Cameron, I haven't reach that part of your course yet.
For track day definitely OEM will do the job, but racing 20laps, for what I have heard, after 8 laps your OEM brakes are shut.
The Colt I have is front disc / rear drum configuration.
I will Google the Aussie webs to see what I find.
