how do "power enrichment" tables (or whatever they're called, based off of what software you're using..) affect the commanded AFR target when under WOT conditions? The way I am understanding it, is you set your target AFR, and then the power enrichment table adds additional fuel on top of that.

it seems kind of redundant, if you are already commanding an increase in fuel during boosted/high load zones to combat temperatures/make power, because you are already "enriching" the mixture on your own, by commanding a 11.8:1 target at WOT under boost. it seems as if I had the target set to 12.0-11.8:1 and I had a power enrichment multiplier of .10 set, that it would take an already sufficiently richened mixture and add needless extra fuel on top of the value. or am I thinking of this wrong?

Power enrichment is a term usually referring to the GM PCMs which operate in two modes - Closed loop (where they target stoich), or PE )where we set the target AFR in the PE table). In an aftermarket standalone ECU with a target AFR table then we wouldn't also have a PE table as the AFR is defined by the target AFR table (and perhaps some compensation tables).

Ok so if I'm understanding you correctly, the ECU would stop looking up the VE table at that point and begin determining fueling based off of the PE EQ vs Stoich when it detects WOT conditions. if you are boosted, and need different mixtures at different boost levels, how would the PE table detect how much load the engine is under? the PE table calculation seems kind of like an alpha-n style correction. And thank you for the help. Your courses are amazing, you're one of the best instructors ive found on the web for this content.
