I am 6’4 and originally bought a planted seat bracket but with the seat and roll cage the seat is just too high with the current mounting points in my 3000GT. Now ideally I would like the side mount brackets right on the floor. To do this safely is it just as simply taking out the cross supports on the floor and welding a flat 3/8” piece of steel and bolting the side mount brackets to that? Fabrication is certainly not my strong point so thank you for all the responses.

You certainly don't need 3/8" steel for a floor. It would probably be fine with 0.090" steel, or less if reinforced to prevent bending. Where are you located, perhaps we can recommends a fabrication shop near you that could do that work.

I am located in upstate ny near albany.

I don't know this place, but their site looks like they take pride in their work. It shows significant in house fab capability, they specialize in automotive, and they're relatively nearby.

After that I'd ask any shop that builds full race cars. There are lots of dirt race car chassis builders around Albany, probably some drag car builders, maybe a rally car shop. If they build it to a standard legal for racing, generally it's going to be safe and secure.

Normalmente respondemos en un plazo de 12 horas (a menudo antes).
