so we need cross hatch groves from the hone to retain oil/lubrication ,so what about the nikiseal/crome coated cylinders like in the new gtr or bmw's, where does the oil sit? and how does it lubricate?
Nikasil plated bores are still honed just like a cast iron sleeve or liner. The issue is that this plating can be incredibly thin (in the region of 0.07-0.08 mm) so the ability to re-hone the bore may be questionable.
