Discusión y preguntas relacionadas con el curso Fundamentos de construcción de motores
Sorry. Silly question. Why does the valve stem need to be lubricated?. I don’t see it touching anything?
Oil is a lubricant, it's used when things rub up against other things to prevent metal contact and wear - valves move up and down in the guides, and that boundary oil film is needed to protect the surfaces.
The oil seals are to reduce the amount of oil passing through the guides.
Don't feel embarrassed, we ALL have those "doh" moments.
It's going through the guide to the combustion chamber. The seals are not there to seal, only to limit how much oil you loose down the giude.
Regards,
Henrik
