Can you describe the use of glow plug operation during dpf regeneration and its affects
My understanding is that the glow plugs are not specifically utilised during the regen process, however there are many people who have reported that a faulty glow plug or even a glow plug fault code may lead to the regen process not occurring. The regen process requires high exhaust temps to burn off the particulate matter and soot in the filter. This is normally achieved via post injection (injecting fuel during the power stroke) and retarding the injection timing to generate more heat.
