Why would someone want to use a hybrid set up? MAF/SD? SD measures well on high and low air volumes.
Tuning a full SD system on a reflash package can be quite time consuming since you need to fill out the entire table. on the other hand the MAF actually is quite quick and easy to rescale and does a pretty great job. The hybrid system retains the MAF for idle and light to moderate load driveability but allows SD for high load operation where you may exceed the MAF's ability to read airflow.
