I've heard today a weird thing which i cannot really wrap my head around and i do not really see wether it is true or not.

*If the engine runs 250+ Horsepower it NEEDS to smoke otherwise the engine will seize*

The person himself refers to an VW 1.9 TDI PD150

I do not drive a diesel anymore as i sold my diesel car, but i am still curious what everyone's opinions would be about this.

I personally do not see a gain in smoke, it only would, to me, only work if soot would act as an lubricant inside the combustion chamber.

If so, than small amounts of soot should be enough right? not excessive.

I don't know for sure.

No, but because of various "tuning" and other factors, most especially the diesel combustion process, "some' instances will give more power/torque if "burning coal".

If you want to get into in more depth, Gale Banks has a very long history of record breaking 'clean" engines and his thinking is backed up by decades of actual test data.
