Toyota pickup tuning

I've got a JDM 2008 Toyota Vigo 3.0 D-4D pickup.

What hardware and software can I use to connect to it to check and monitor the current tune?

I'm not personally aware of any easy options for end user tuning for the Toyota D4D engine. There are plenty of shops offering remapping services so there are obviously options available but you might need to do some digging through the internet to find a solution. Currently we're running the MoTeC M1 Diesel ECU in our own D4D engine but this is an expensive option unfortunately.

Bitedit will sort you for map editing and pcmflash and a tatrix openport2 will take care of writing the file back to the ECU.

Agreed, I'm currently using this setup mentioned by Simon on several Toyota and Lexus vehicles successfully.
