Hi everyone. Looking for a little bit of advice in regards to my 180sx build and wiring harness, the vehicle is a complete ground up build from scratch. And I’m trying to work out the best way to go about things. The idea is to build as much of a track car as I can while keeping it street legal here in South Australia and I’m closing in on being at the wiring stage. I was hoping to do away with all fuses and relays and I currently have a nexus r3, pd16 and uc10. My question is in regard to some required and some creature comfort things that require constant power, these include brake lights, interior light, door locks and probably a stereo and maybe some other things I’m not thinking off of the top of my head.

Initially I was leaning towards running the entire vehicle off of the pd16/r3 but I figure I’m going to need both of those wired to the ignition always on pin of the ignition switch which is going to leave me without a constant power feed or accessories option. Is it worth running a seperate pdm something that is able to be configured as a standalone device (link razor or similar) to run constant power to brake and interior light etc and then use accessories position on the ignition switch through that pdm to control other things like the stereo? Or, alternatively is there a way to achieve this with the pd16 since it has to be configured through the ecu map in NSP? If I was to run a setup with a seperate pdm does anyone happen to know what sort of parasitic current it would draw as I’d imagine there would definitely be some. Or alternatively is there any other better options again?

Sounds like a really interesting project.

Regarding the permanent live - I would suggest not using a PDU since the quiescent current would be significant.

Maybe look into running a separate circuit for these with a voltage sensing relay.
