Hi! I'm starting to build a custom harness for a vintage motorcycle and i want to include some accessories like an alarm, fog lights, and more but i have some questions about relays.
1.- What are the pros and cons of using different sizes of relays? Like Maxi, Micro and Mini.
2.- The OEM harness has a starter relay of 5 pins, but 87a its not used, if i understood correctly, i can use a 4 pin normally open relay, correct? Or is something else i need to address? Below is the diagram for the starter relay.

1/ primary advantage is packaging - they're smaller and easier to find space for. Primary disadvantage is they are normally current limited - smaller size meands contacts are smaller and heat disipation is poorer.
2/ it's common for the relay sockets to have provision for the five pins, even if only 87 is used - double check nothing is wired to the 87a terminal and if there's nothing, a standard 4 pin relay, of the correct amperage, will be perfectly fine.
