Hi all,
I’m redoing the wiring on my buggy’s relay panel after discovering that the previous setup was questionable (a fan motor even burned out). I'm hoping to get some advice on proper wiring and power distribution.
Planned Setup:
Fused relay panel with five relays, using negative triggers to switch on power to accessories.
1. Fan 1
2. Fan 2
2. Fuel pump
3. ECU
4. Engine power (injectors & coils)
Wiring Plan:
- Pins 86 & 30 on each relay will be tied together and powered through individual fuses from a new fuse panel, which I want to power only when the key is on (IGN switch)
- Pin 85 will be used for negative triggers (Fans & Fuel), ECU and Engine relay will be grounded no switch needed
- Pin 87 goes to each accessory as usual
My Question / Concern:
There is an existing fuse block powered by IGN-on that handles other accessories (lights, brakes, steering, etc.)
I’m not sure if I can safely run a second fuse block off the same IGN-on circuit.
I’ve been researching, and it seems that I might need a IGN relay that would power the new fused relay panel.
Is this the correct and safe way to do it?
I was also considering tapping into the main power (before the relay panel) through a 100A circuit breaker, but I’m unsure if that’s the best or cleanest solution.
Any feedback, advice, or wiring suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
