I've been watching Haltech's video on grounding do's and don'ts. They explain that using multiple grounding points can cause issues, and recommend using a star point ground on the engine block. This method, where all grounds including the ECU ground are connected at a single point, makes perfect sense to me. However, Haltech doesn't provide specific guidance for the Nexus line. I'm using an R3 and have connected its positive and negative terminals to the battery. So, where should I ground the coil-on-plug ground wires? Since my ECU ground goes directly to the battery, I can't use a star point arrangement. For now, I've grounded them to the block.

How good is your battery negative to engine block ground path? One way to understand this is to measure the voltage drop between the battery negative and the engine block when there is a large current such as running the starter motor. If this measures less than .3 volts then there should not be any issues with grounding coils to the engine block (typical diagnostics says the drop should be less than 0.5 volts, but let's shoot for better than the minimum).

Thanks David. The copper bonding braid is new at the back, it's a 911. While I'm at it, I'll check the bonding jump up front at the battery too and then measure to be sure. I'm surprised Haltech doesn't address this anywhere since it goes against what they say to do in their videos.
