Intercooler piping clamp differences

Hello, I would like to know if anyone have any experience with vangen clamps or hd clamps for intercooler piping.

I'm planning on removing a big part of my silicone hoses from my setup but I'm a bit afraid that vibration and torque could crack something.

What model would offer the best reliability and would hold best while still giving some form of play.

We use PlasmaClamps from Plasmaman on the SR86. They're much the same as HD clamps and haven't given us any issues.

In terms of holding boost pressure they're all awesome as long as they've been installed correctly. The most important thing is that you have good alignment of the ferrules, and nothing is stressed when the clamp is done up. Perfect alignment means when the engine moves you'll have the maximum allowable misalignment before anything is stressed - this is going to be you're best bet for making sure you don't crack anything.

That said, most the manufacturers of these clamps quote the axial and angular movement allowed by the clamp. In my experience it's usually more than enough, but if you have very soft engine mounts or lots of movement for some reason, you could have issues.

The other point to consider for reliability is the material of the O-rings. Generally they're FKM, Buna-N (NBR/Nitrile) or silicone - FKM and Silicone would be our recommendation for temperature resistance.

In the end, Plasmaclamps, Vibrant HD clamps are great products before stepping up to wiggins clamps. No experience with Epman clamps.

Fitted correctly, there shouldn't be a problem, but if movement is that much of a concern, you might find it advantageous to use firmer engine and transmission mounts, and/or adding a torque link to steady the engine - possibly even going solid if the application suits it.
